As New Zealand's resource management system undergoes significant reform, what does this mean in practice for those working in the planning, legal, development and environmental sectors?
Join James Hook, RM Reform Consenting Lead at Auckland Council, for a practical online lunchtime briefing exploring how Auckland Council is preparing for the transition, and the changes practitioners can expect in the consenting environment.
This session will cover:
• What the new resource management system could mean in practice for resource consenting
• How Auckland Council is preparing for the transition
• Process improvements already underway to simplify and streamline consenting
• What applicants, consultants and developers can expect as changes are introduced
• How higher-quality applications can help reduce delays, rework and information requests
• Opportunities for Council and industry to work together to improve consenting outcomes
Designed as a practical discussion rather than a legislative analysis, the webinar will include plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion about what the reforms will mean on the ground.
James Hook has joined Auckland Council from the private sector to lead the RM Reform programme, drawing from his broad experience including consenting, plan changes, stakeholder engagement and expert evidence.
He brings more than 30 years' experience from the applicant and development side of the consenting system, providing a clear view of how the RC process can be more efficient, timely, proportionate and customer focused.
