Wellington

Registration is only available for current members.

Event Details

Wellington Women's Infrastructure Network and The Infrastructure Collective are excited to invite you to join us for a site visit to the Porirua Reservoir, on Wednesday 21 October from 11:45am to 1.15pm.

HEB construction on behalf of Kainga Ora, Porirua City Council with Ngāti Toa Rangatira, are building a new reservoir to ensure current and future Porirua residents have access to drinking water every day. The reservoir will enable future housing growth in the area.

The new reservoir will be more reliable in the event of a natural disaster because it will be completely sealed, and was designed using modern earthquake data and modelling for the area. It will hold nine million litres of stored, clean drinking water, increasing our total for the area to 13.5 million litres. This means eastern Porirua and Whitby residents will have continued access clean drinking water, even if there is a disruption to the water supply network.

This will be a great opportunity to see the construction of the reservoir; the visit will include going into the tank before it becomes a confined space

Thank you to HEB Construction, Kāinga Ora, Porirua City Council and Ngāti Toa Rangatira for hosting this site visit.
