WSP is dedicated to delivering innovative
research solutions that incorporate the needs of New Zealanders. From their origins in the New Zealand
Ministry of Works through to today, WSP has provided research that informed the
design and construction of major infrastructure projects across Aotearoa New
Zealand.
Today their researchers work in multi-disciplinary
teams to address challenges including movement around cities and places, zero-carbon alternatives to
traditional roading materials, and community resilience in the presence of
major natural hazards. WSP brings together a team of experts from diverse fields
to address some of the most pressing challenges facing our communities in Aotearoa,
New Zealand.
This event includes hearing from the WSP Research and Innovation team and a tour of the lab facilities. Please note, all attendees must be wearing closed toe shoes.

Louise Malcolm - Research Manager, WSP
Louise is a skilled leader with a proven history in applied research and project execution. At WSP Research and Innovation, she oversees the research teams, fostering effective collaboration and driving innovation both in New Zealand and internationally. As a Certified Professional Ergonomist, Louise is passionate about human-centred design. She frequently publishes peer-reviewed reports and presentations, and has established Human Factors standards and best practice methodologies that contribute to industry standards.
Dr. Leoni McKelvey - Team Leader Human Factors and Social and Behaviour Science, WSP
Dr. Leoni McKelvey is an experienced researcher and project manager. She leads the Human Factors and Social and Behaviour Science team at WSP Research and brings over 12 years of rich experience from Aotearoa, New Zealand and beyond. Leoni excels in transforming complex data into impactful insights, guiding organisations to demonstrate their true value. Her skills span mixed methodologies, research, and robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks. As a realist evaluator with a keen eye for qualitative data, Leoni has driven numerous projects, particularly in sport development, to uncover unique contexts and circumstances. She has been a driving force in advancing knowledge and practices across various domains.
