Infrastructure New Zealand is pleased to present 'A year on for the North Island weather events: Towards a coordinated response and recovery - Auckland' event, sponsored by Stantec
One year on from the North Island weather events, we have
the opportunity to pause, reflect and draw on early lessons from the recovery
programme to progress streamlined recovery and resilience planning.
We are hosting two events – in Auckland and Hawke’s Bay with experts who have worked closely on the rebuild following Cyclone Gabrielle and Auckland’s recovery journey after last year’s anniversary weekend floods.
The discussions will centre on early lessons from the response, and the path ahead to ensure that learnings from past recoveries are brought forward as we continue to experience the impacts of climate change induced disasters in the years to come. Community-led retreat and adaptation funding will be front of mind as we look to move away from the current ad-hoc system.
Join us to discuss this important topic, and to hear
directly from experts on the ground about their insights about the way forward.
James Weller - Auckland Regional Manager, Fulton Hogan.
Civil Engineer with 19 year career mainly focussed on Construction Projects with a few stints in Maintenance and client side contracts. I have worked on some of the larger infrastructure projects in Auckland over the last 10years.
Fulton Hogan works with a number of key clients across Auckland that were affected by the Anniversary flooding event – Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, Watercare, Auckland Airport and NZTA.
Fulton Hogan resources worked through the initial weekend via our Auckland Council Stormwater maintenance contract, responding to hundreds of call outs and emergency situations. Via our Auckland Transport North Urban and South Urban road maintenance contracts we secured hundreds of road closures and temporary traffic mgmt setups. At the Airport we supported the flood recovery of the terminal building and helped get Airport operations up and running. Our Motorway team secured parts of the Motorway network and started the recovery process.
Over the last year we have worked with all our key clients on various recovery projects and schemes.
I am looking forward to future rebuild and recovery works, and to work on the larger stormwater resilience projects
