Event Details

You are invited to join us on Wednesday 18 February from 7:30am - 9:30am for an in-depth discussion on infrastructure resilience in Aotearoa, grounded in new research from the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER), developed in partnership with Downer through the Infrastructure Resilience Index (IRI). Thank you to Dentons for sponsoring.

Increased adverse weather events have revealed just how exposed our systems can be, where the greatest vulnerabilities lie, and how we can better adapt and mitigate future risk. From floods, cyclones, and slips to prolonged disruptions across transport, energy, water, and communications, these events have shown once again that infrastructure resilience is not a future concern — it is a present-day challenge with social, economic, and environmental consequences.

Join us for a conversation that brings together leaders from across the infrastructure sector to explore what resilience really means in practice, how infrastructure systems respond under stress, where adaptation and mitigation efforts should be prioritised and how decision-makers can balance long-term resilience and short-term pressures.

Hosted by Dentons, this event creates space for open discussion, shared learning, and practical insight on how New Zealand can strengthen its infrastructure systems in the face of increasing climate, economic, and social pressures — and what we must do differently next time.
