Join
WIN Auckland and the Link Alliance team for the first live, virtual tour of
the City Rail Link (CRL) project. We will tour areas of the CRL’s Mt Eden
construction site, including the future redeveloped station and the tunnel
boring machine (TBM) while it is being re-assembled. This virtual
event is open for registration to all WIN members across NZ.The
CRL is the largest transport infrastructure project ever to be undertaken in
New Zealand. Once complete, it will be a 3.45km twin-tunnel underground rail
link up to 42 metres below the city centre that will transform the downtown
Britomart Transport Centre into a two-way through-station that better connects
the city’s rail network.
CRL’s Link Alliance are delivering the project’s main works which includes the
construction of two new stations, Aotea and Karangahape, redevelopment of the
Mt Eden Station and building twin tunnels between Mt Eden and Aotea. Link
Alliance are an internationally experienced team with Vinci, Downer New Zealand
and Soletanche Bachy as the alliance’s constructors and WSP, AECOM and Tonkin + Taylor as
the designers.
While the motu (country) continues to feel the impacts of the Covid Omicron
outbreak, Link Alliance continue making significant progress towards this
important infrastructure project. This event is an opportunity to hear and see
first-hand from people contributing to various aspects of the CRL.
This tour will be hosted virtually from the Mt Eden construction site and will include sights of the TBM, named Dame Whina Cooper after the ground-breaking
activist. You can learn more about the TBM and its namesake at www.digCRL.co.nz.
