Event Details

WIN Wellington together with our sponsor Infratil are delighted to invite you to our second site visit of the year to Wellington International Airport.

Wellington International Airport is a key part of the transport infrastructure in our capital city. In the first full year of travel without covid restrictions since the start of the pandemic, Wellington International Airport has hosted 5.26 million passengers, with 4.7 million domestic passengers and 560,000 international passengers passing through its terminals.

The extreme weather events experienced in parts of New Zealand in 2023 highlighted the importance of resilient infrastructure. Over the past year, Wellington International Airport has been upgrading a range of infrastructure, including the major apron taxiway, along with a new stormwater management system and airfield lighting. Resilience work is also underway on sea walls and breakwater infrastructure.

Come along to learn more about the major infrastructure projects underway at the airport, and to get a special “airside tour” of the site.

Shuttles will depart from Brandon St at 12pm, and return by 2pm.

In order to attend the airside tour, the Aviation Security Service requires the following by Thursday 3 August:

A head and shoulders photo on plain white background taken within the last 6 months (hair pushed back behind ears, nothing obscuring the face, etc)

A copy of either a drivers licence (front and back) or passport
