WIN Northland: Whāngarei Boys High School Visit

Event Details

The construction of Whangārei Boys High school has been ongoing since January 2020. A NZD60 million project, it is the largest Ministry of Education project currently under construction. While construction has been delayed due to COVID, it is set for operation for school term 2 this year. Multiple stakeholders have been involved in the project and the speakers will share insight to the processes involved in building the largest school in Whangārei.

Presenter Details

Sam Wilson - Sam Wilson is a Project Manager specialising in civil and structural engineering. He has a Masters in disaster management and five years of diverse engineering experience in New Zealand and Australia. As a civil engineer, he has managed projects across 3 Waters, buildings and infrastructure.

Jaimie Duder – Jaimie Duder is the Site Manager for Whangarei Boys High-school. He has over 20 years’ experience in delivering building projects for clients, previously as owner of his own company. With extensive work experience in the UK and New Zealand, he is now part of Leighs Construction.

Georgina Olsen – A qualified Planner and Landscape Architect, Georgina has over 20 years combined experience in landscape architecture, resource management and environmental planning across New Zealand and Australia.

Georgina works with several Hapū and Iwi groups throughout Te Tai Tokerau including Te Parawhau and Ngāti Kahu O Torongare in Te Taiao/resource management to ensure tāngata whenua uara ahurea (cultural values) are protected and obligations upheld.
