Wellington International Airport is one on New Zealand’s three main airports serving over 6 million passengers annually across domestic and international flights. Wellington Airport ‘s 2040 masterplan outlines its vision for the next 20 years to create a blueprint that leaves the airport well placed for the future. The masterplan includes a terminal expansion, runway and taxiway system improvements, new freight facilities, additional aircraft parking stands, and a modern fire station.
This visit will provide insight into a range of major infrastructure initiatives underway at one of New Zealand’s most operationally complex transport assets. Attendees will hear from Wellington Airport’s project team on the terminal upgrade works, alongside key safety and resilience projects including the Engineered Materials Arresting System (EMAS) and the Southern Seawall Renewal, recently progressed under the Fast track Approvals Act.
The session will include presentations followed by an airside visit to the recently completed EMAS, offering an opportunity to see this critical runway safety system up close and understand how large scale infrastructure is delivered within a live airport environment.
For the site visit, attendees will need to provide identification and a passport photo ahead of the visit along with bringing the identification on the day, bring a high vis vest and wear closed toe shoes.
Thank you to Wellington International Airport for hosting this site visit.
